Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
A Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is a key member of the healthcare team, trained to support both clinical and administrative functions in a medical setting. CMAs are nationally certified professionals who assist with a wide range of tasks, including taking vital signs, preparing patients for exams, collecting lab samples, administering medications under supervision, and maintaining accurate health records.
In addition to clinical duties, CMAs often manage front-office responsibilities such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and communicating with patients—ensuring that day-to-day operations run smoothly. Their comprehensive training allows them to bridge the gap between patients and providers, contributing to efficient, compassionate, and high-quality care.
